Forest School - in the dark...

Key Stage 2 are loving their after school Forest School club this term! Now the evenings are getting darker earlier, it is dark by the time their session finishes which adds a whole new dimension. Yesterday, they took torches and discovered all sorts of things they wouldn't normally notice, like how snail trails glisten on trees and how the white lichen on trees looks like snow. A game of hide and seek in the dark at the end was great fun!

Unfortunately you can't see much in the photographs (as it was dark!!), but hopefully, they will give you an idea of what it was like, with fairy lights around the main areas and children with their torches.

Girls Football Tournament

We were extremely proud of our girls football team who competed against other schools at Framlingham yesterday. Although they didn't win, they showed clear improvements over the course of the tournament, losing their first two matches, then drawing, then finally winning! They showed fantastic team work and were brimming with enthusiasm when they returned to school.

Bollywood Dancing

We were delighted to welcome Tina from Jayadance back for some Bollywood dance workshops. Each class learnt a routine which they then performed to parents and the rest of the school at the end of the day. The children loved wearing the bright costumes and a bindi on their head.

Farm Visit

Reception and KS1 had a wonderful day on a farm last week. Creeting St Mary Primary School very kindly invited us to join them on their annual trip to Mr and Mrs Porch's farm.

The trip started with a ride in the trailer to see the crops growing...

During the rest of the day, amongst other things, children learnt about the different animals ...

... made some very cute chicks...

... and were able to climb up into the HUGE combine harvester (and beep the horn!).

Yoga Taster Sessions

As part of our aim to provide opportunities for children to try sports they may not normally try, everyone in the school had a chance to take part in a yoga session last week. Everyone really enjoyed it!

Letter from the Bishop

We were delighted to received this letter from The Right Reverend Martin Seely offering his 'wholehearted' congratulating us on our recent SIAMs inspection.

He highlighted several of this particularly successful elements in the report, including how 'parents describe the warmth of welcome they receive and that they appreciated the strong support which is given to all pupils, but particularly those in need of individual provision.' He also praised the 'high expectations that you and your staff have of all pupils and how aspirational targets are in place for 2017.'

Little Storytellers!

Year 2 are learning about traditional stories in English at the moment and were very proud of this retelling of the Bengal story, Jamil's Clever Cat!

New Play Equipment

The children had a lovely surprise when they returned to school after the Christmas holidays when the saw the new play equipment in the school garden!

These were funded by the Friends of the school and have proved extremely popular with all the children, adding to the many activities and games they find to do in the playground and garden at break times.
