Epiphany Code

This strange code has appeared next to the main school entrance and on the door of each classroom.

In assembly, all was explained when children learned about Epiphany and the German custom of Sternsingers when children dress up as the Kings and visit houses collecting money for charity. They chalk this code on the houses the visit.

The numbers represent the year, and the letters stand for Christus Mansionem Benedicat, which means 'May Christ bless this house' in Latin, but are also the initials of the traditional names of the three Kings - Caspar, Balthasar and Melchior. The + are not add signs, but the sign of the cross.
